I recently caught an episode of Portlandia on IFC, and after initially not wanting to watch it, I actually found it to be really funny in an irreverent way. It stars SNL alum Fred Armisen as well as Carrie Brownstein, some chick I had never previously heard of, although she was apparently part of a band called Sleater-Kinney.
It's a fun 30 minute program, divided into various comical vignettes primarily featuring Fred and Carrie. I did just read in my pre-blog post research that they have a bunch of scheduled guest stars for their upcoming ordered epsiodes. Such guests include: Gus Van Sant, Steve Buscemi, Aubrey Plaza, Sarah McLachlan, Heather Graham, Aimee Mann, Jason Sudeikis, Selma Blair , and Kyle MacLachlan. Those are some pretty A-list names, which is pretty impressive for such a little show on IFC.
For instance, I saw this clip on the show the other night, and I really did laugh my ass off. I don't know if other people would find it funny, but I think this shit is creepy and hilarious and disturbingly accurate all rolled up into one.
And also, this next clip has been stuck in my head for the last week. I literally have been going around screaming CACAO to everything and everyone. Needless to say, I'm really well liked.
Definitely watch both if you have the time, their pretty quick but also really funny, or at least I think so. Btw, for VerizonFios users, IFC is channel 894, so if you have it, watch an episode of Portlandia on demand, or check local listings.
